At King’s Furlong Infant School and Nursery our teaching of design and technology encourages our children to be curious and adventurous in order to achieve success. Children are encouraged to be independent, creative problem-solvers and thinkers and to work both as an individual and as part of a team. Children are given opportunities to become designers, inventors and engineers; through designing, making and evaluating a wide range of products children are taught the skills that enable them to think creatively and imaginatively to design, make and evaluate products within a variety of contexts.

Children will be exposed to age appropriate equipment from Nursery upwards. When equipment is introduce children will be taught the correct name for this equipment and how to use it safely. 

Food technology supports children to develop an understanding of where food comes from, the importance of a varied and healthy diet and how to prepare a range of different food items.

Design technology at King’s Furlong Infant School and Nursery and is a journey of exploration and discovery on the way to producing a finished product.
