In the Autumn term we did some exciting learning all about India as a part of our topic of Globetrotters. We made comparisons to the United Kingdom and Basingstoke. We went on a trip to Vue Cinema to see Tad the Explorer. We also put on our own amazing version of a Christmas Nativity called Baubles. In the last week of term we created lots of Christmas craft activities and we invited parents in to join us on Monday 17th December.
Over the Spring Term we cannot wait for the the learning to come. Our topic for this half term will be Dinosaurs. We will be learning all different fossils. In Science we will be learning about animals including humans. For PE we will be doing gymnastics and invasion games.
In English we will be writing fact files about Dinosaurs, using the book Katie and the Dinosaur. We will be going on a trip to the Natural History Museum, after our trip we will be writing information leaflets. We will also be using Dinosaur bones to help us with our writing. In guided reading we will be studying Stone Girl, Bone Girl, Tyrannosarus Dip and we will be looking at Dinosaur poems by Corky Paul.
As a part of our art we will be creating digital media, by taking photo of dinosaurs and be creative perspective images. We will also be learning about the artist Andy Warhol and creating a piece of work in his style. In History we will be making comparisons between dinosaurs, in each we will be researching our own dinosaurs, so that we can become experts on different species.
In Food Technology we will be creating our own dinosaur nests using cereal. During our PDL lessons we will be learning about the ways in which our bodies are important and how to look after them.
