School Council: Young Interpreters

SCHOOL COUNCIL/YOUNG INTERPRETERS ASSEMBLY

This special Assembly was held on Thursday 8th October 2009, as part of a series focussing on 'People Who Help Us' in school. The children have met and learned about the adults who help them and this Assembly celebrated the role of all the other children who also help them. It seemed the appropriate time to award both the new School Council and our Young Interpreters with their badges and explain their roles, and to remind all the children about the Playground Friends who are always on duty at playtime and the Year 2 lunchtime helpers who are always on hand to help any child who needs a hand.

We were very pleased to welcome Anwyn Foy and Astrid Gouwy of Hampshire's EMTAS service to this Assembly. The role of our Young Interpreters in helping children for whom English is their second language is so important and, together with our wonderful School Councillors, we are very proud of all the children who make an extra effort to help others in our school.
